We have a fantastic group of volunteer coaches with several of us RFU Qualified for coaching and refereeing..

This season the Under 8’s will continue their tag rugby progression through the age grade rugby syllabus, training and playing in line with the RFU Core Values, and  increasing the pitch size and number of players on a team…. The most exciting thing is that the kids can now start diving for the try line!!!!

We have over 50 children registered for our age group, and the feedback from last season has been fantastic…

“Thank you all so much….. has had a fabulous time this season”

“Thank you & all the coaches for your support to ….. in his first year doing Rugby. You may recall we had a shaky start back in September… but through all the coaches patience and encouragement he now really enjoys his Sunday sessions. – Thanks again, and hope to see you again in September”
“Thanks so much to you all.. you are all so committed and both parents and kids hugely appreciate the time and effort – see you next season”
“Thanks…. has really enjoyed the training and the festivals this season.. its always such a fantastic atmosphere your enthusiasm and encouragement never waivers – see you in September”

2017/2018 season:

As the U7 group (Year 2 children) we had a great season despite the weather and the pitches trying to conspire against us.  With over 40 players registered we had a great season seeing the skills and natural talents of the kids progress.  Friendships were made both on and off the pitch, with the children becoming regular fixtures in the clubhouse afterwards.

We played in 7 festivals and all the children that wanted to got a taste of semi competitive Tag-Rugby.  Some of the highlights of our season were:

Saracens festivals, in November and January when we took 3 squads to play multiple matches at Allianz Park, the kids getting the chance to play on hallowed turf, and then watch the Saracens 1st team play in both premiership and Aviva Cup matches.

Our Tunbridge Wells Festival in March was a fantastic event with 15 clubs attending and our age group putting out five teams playing some great rugby in great spirits.

The Quilter Kids day where two of our lucky kids got to experience what it is like to be an England player for the day.  Arriving at the stadium on the team bus, greeted by World Cup Winners Jason Robinson, and Danielle Waterman and getting first class training on the Twickenham pitch.

The season was a fantastic one and we are looking forward already to 10am on Sunday 2nd September when we start again with the Under 8s playing in bigger festivals and learning more skills, and making new friends.

Each week as coaches we delight in seeing the smiles, laughter and participation of the players throughout each of our sessions.

NEW PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME – Just Come to St Marks on the 2nd of September and ask for the Under 8s…
