Women's NC 3 South East (South)
Girls’ and women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing female sports and it continues to grow across the country following the continued success of the England Women’s team The Red Roses, who made the final of the Rugby World Cup in 2022. Joining Tunbridge Wells RFC Ladies is a great way to get active and try a new sport, meet new people and to become part of a thriving and friendly team. It is also part of a connected girls rugby section who show support and encouragement across all age groups. We pride ourselves on welcoming new players into our club, whether you have never picked up a rugby ball before, to having years of experience – we will look after you!
About us
Tunbridge Wells Rugby Club Ladies Section comprises both youth and ladies teams, boasting around 100 players from age 10 to adult playing week in and week out in friendly and competitive leagues, tournaments and cups. The teams cover U12 (years 6 and 7), U14 (years 8 and 9), U16 (years 10 and 11), U18 (years 12 and 13) and a Ladies first XV (age 18+).
We have coaches at every age group with many years of experience of both playing rugby and coaching rugby, including coaches who have played representative rugby at county, regional and international level.
Key Achievements
Some key achievements since the ladies section was created in 2014:·
Our first season saw our newly created U13 come runner up in the Kent Sevens;
2015-2016 & 2016-2017 saw our U18 win Area Trophies;
2017-2018 saw our U15 going to National Cup Semi-Finals;
2018-2019 the U18 had a great run winning the Kent League, Cup & Sevens and the U13s won the Kent Plate competition·
2021-2022 saw the U15 come back from the Lockdowns with an exciting & definitive Kent Cup win, a National Cup Quarter Final and coming second in the Kent league, missing out by only 1 point.
Finally, after many years of trying we finally put out a Women’s Team in the 2022 Kent Sevens, playing 3 games against other new sides. Following their first competitive run-out, with mud on their faces and aching muscles, they confirmed their love for the game and have moved up to playing in the 2022-2023 Allianz Inner Warrior League, and for the 2023-2024 Season they have been accepted in the National Challenge League 3 South East (South) (RFU level 6) and are keenly looking forward to this step up!
The Women’s 1XV currently have c25 players from 18 to 50+ all enjoying their rugby, but need more!
