About the team

Girls rugby is one of the fastest growing female sports. Joining our girls is a great way to have fun, forget the stresses of school, and keep active.

We pride ourselves on welcoming new girls into our club, whether you have never picked up a rugby ball before, or have tots, tag or mini rugby experience – we will look after you!

Trying it out
Any girls can come along to our training for a few weeks, for free, to meet the other girls and coaches and get to know the sport before committing to join the club. Just contact us for details.

About us
In this 24/25 season (Sept 24 - May 25), our U14 Girls squad combines girls from school years 8 and 9, which is standard across rugby in England withe RFU's age grades.

We often train on skills together with Y5 girls (U10s), as well as Y6 & Y7 girls in our U12s squad.

We also have a fantastic collaboration with Sevenoaks RFC girls for training and playing. We are currently sharing training facilities and coaching expertise between our clubs. As a result, we play competitively this season as 7Wells!

We have volunteer coaches with many years of experience of both playing rugby, coaching and refereeing. But we are always looking for more volunteers to help! All our coaches are fully DBS checked, parents of girls in the squad and have completed the RFU's Safeguarding training. Our coaching team also has RFU qualified first aiders.

Training
When not playing a fixture, we generally train alternating Sunday mornings at either 0900 or 1100 at TWRFC and at 1100 at Sevenoaks RFC. Lift sharing is encouraged and can help with parents split between other sibling activities.

Matches, both home and away, generally take place on Sundays, and - depending on pitch availability at the host club - can take place at any time from 0900 to 1300. We aim for morning fixtures and to always give plenty of prior warning to games.

We ensure that any girl wishing to play competitively does. All girls will always play at least half of any fixture or set of matches at a tournament, but it is far more likely that girls will play more than watch and support.

Player Development

Our focus is on creating a welcoming, safe environment, in which girls have the opportunity to flourish in a physical sport that rewards a variety of skills, abilities and attributes.

Rugby suits girls who like getting physical - needing fearless tacklers and strong ball carriers - as well as runners, passers and quick thinkers (these are not mutually exclusive talents). At TWRFC, we recognise that there is a place for everyone on the rugby pitch.

We also encourage our girls to develop as people, learning self-discipline, respect and a sporting mentally that will serve them well beyond the pitch.
