Sunday 14th October was another week and another Festival – Blackheath this time… And whilst the weather didn’t quite hold out for us the quality of rugby played by the Under 8s was truly exceptional.  To be commended by another team on how well we played, the quality of our defensive line and our support play in attack made us so proud – and you as players should feel very proud as well.  Yet another step up in performance and outcomes – cracking displays of Teamwork and Enjoyment too..  Thanks to all the coaches and parents who supported the day – and well done to the might Under 8s…

Sunday 7th October The mighty Under 8s made their presence felt at the Hastings and Bexhill Festival.   Another awesome performance from our U8’s.  A few first game wobbles led on to some stunning performances (and wins) throughout the day. This week the games were tougher and the competition much more physical, the players responded and delivered with some amazing tries and excellent defensive tagging.. Roll on next week at Blackheath

Sunday 30th September saw the Under 8s play their first festival of the season.  It was a bit of a shock to be playing on such bigger pitches and it took a game for everyone to adjust to the increased space.  It didn’t take long, however, for the players to adjust to the extra space, and start to utilise it to great effect, with some cracking solo and team tries being scored.  What was really pleasing to see was the quality of our defence. – Some cracking defending of space and diving tagging taking place.

All the kids had great fun and represented the club and our new sponsor with pride.  Well done kids  – roll on the squads for next week in Hastings.

If you would like to know more about taster sessions, how to join up, become a coach, or more about the club please contact me, Simon Hughes (Head Coach) 07917520599 or via email:  u8@twrfc.com

We have a fantastic group of volunteer coaches with several of us RFU Qualified for coaching and refereeing..

This season the Under 8’s will continue their tag rugby progression through the age grade rugby syllabus, training and playing in line with the RFU Core Values, and  increasing the pitch size and number of players on a team…. The most exciting thing is that the kids can now start diving for the try line!!!!

We have over 50 children registered for our age group, and our opening week of the season saw several new joiners to the club – welcome its great to have you onboard.. We also had visit from a world cup winning legend – Jason Leonard, who took time to speak to the children, give them some encouragement, sign some autographs and create an awesome team photo.

The festivals fixture list has been released and we are hopeful we will be able to take at least two squads of 8 (6 +2 subs) to every match.  If you would like to sign up to a particular festival please let us know ASAP.

The Quilter Kids day where two of our lucky kids got to experience what it is like to be an England player for the day.  Arriving at the stadium on the team bus, greeted by World Cup Winners Jason Robinson, and Danielle Waterman and getting first class training on the Twickenham pitch.

Each week as coaches we delight in seeing the smiles, laughter and participation of the players throughout each of our sessions.
