This Saturday 22nd September

A good away win for the 1’s at Shelford last Saturday (27-34) proves that this league is a tough one and there will be no easy game. Mav and Jim’s 2’s narrowly lost 17-19 to Medway 2’s in what was a great game of rugby. 2’s squad consisted of 15 forwards and 3 backs so well done guys! 3’s unfortunately went down to Sevenoaks 4’s 17-41 in what was another good game. We had 5 new players and hopefully recruited a few more from the touchline, great stuff Zak! If anyone fancies a game please do contact Zak as he is always ready to welcome new talent.

This Saturday we have:

1st XV – Home to Westcliff

2nd XV – Home to Sevenoaks 2’s

3rd XV – Away at Whitstable 2’s

4th XV – Away at Vigo 3’s

All 3pm kick offs

We have our usual pre match lunch served at 1.30pm. Venison hotpot with sliced potatoes, green cabbage and roasted vegetables followed by cheese and biscuits at £20/head including entry to the game. If you would like a place please let Michelle know.

6 NATIONS INTERNATIONALS – UPDATE – All our allocation has been exhausted for both the France & Scotland game but I will keep a reserve list for any secondary tickets that may get returned by clubs and/or anyone having late changes to their plans. I am still accepting Italy requests as I believe I should be able to obtain relatively high numbers of both adult and Juniors.

Tickets for the away games in Wales and Ireland will be drawn once our allocation is known, please advise interest by return email.

I will be purchasing our allocation of tickets from the RFU for the following games in the very near future:

England v France on Sun 10th February (15:00)

England v Italy on Sat 9th March (16:45)

England v Scotland on Sat 16th March (17:00)

Please note that our total allocation, as a club, is minimal so demand will be very high. If you can source tickets elsewhere I would continue to explore these avenues as well. The situation would improve if fully paid up club members apply for just 1 ticket each as I am sure most attend with fellow club colleagues anyway.

Ticket prices are as follows:

France & Scotland – £135, £115, £100, £82 and £55

Italy – £105, £88, £80, £68 and £48

There are junior tickets available (15 years and under) for the Italy game at £20 if bought with the £80/68/45 adult tickets – i believe we should be able to obtain high numbers of both adult and junior tickets for this game.

The tickets allocated will be on a first come first served basis from 00:01 on Monday 3rd September at my email address: – please advise on game preference (for France or Scotland – no issues with Italy), number of tickets and price of ticket. I don’t envisage anyone obtaining more than a total of 2 tickets for the France and Scotland games but singles will be available so 1 for each game is a possibility.

Notification of ticket allocation, or not as the case may be, will be sent out by return email and a request for payment (+£5 admin charge per ticket), if applicable, after confirming membership status. An online payment is preferred but can also be made by cheque (details to follow within mail return) – no tickets will be released without funds having been cleared and membership confirmation. Please note there will be a reserve list for each game should any member not require their allocation (for whatever reason) and the ticket passed back into the club – we have an obligation to the RFU to be able to name the club member for each and every one of our tickets and if any ticket is found to be placed on the outside market and traced to TWRFC we could well lose our future allocation as a club for a number of years.

I will also attempt to increase our allocation later down the line as some clubs do not utilise their allowance and return back to the RFU.

This Saturday 1st September….Updated…

We hope you’ve all had an enjoyable summer and are looking forward to what looks to be an exciting new season with some new opposition and new faces on the pitch.

This Saturday we only have one home game which sees the first team take on Hertford – kick off is at 3pm. Last season although Hertford took all the points it was a very narrow victory to them when they came to St Marks in October 2017 so everything to play for this weekend.

We have our first pre match lunch of the season and the menu is roast chicken, new potatoes and vegetables followed by cheese and biscuits. Price remains at £20 including entry to the game.

Lunch will be served at 1.30pm with the bar open from 1pm. Weather permitting there will be a bar open outside during the game. If you would like to reserve a place please let Michelle Greenall know.

Tunbridge Wells RFC  Youth – 2018/19 Season

“One Club at the heart of our Community from Under 6’s to Vets”

Welcome to the 2018/19 Season at TWRFC, whether this is your first year or you are returning after a summer break you are most welcome.

We have been busy preparing for the start of the new season on the 2nd September and can’t wait to welcome you back. The pitches are ready, the coaches have drawn up their plans for the season, we have a good fixture list, we have bought lots of new equipment, all we need now is the players!!

Hopefully you have been keeping your athletes fit, lean and exercised over the summer so they arrive back ready for another season of fun, learning on a sports field.

What can they expect from us coaches?

  • They will be at the heart of everything we do and all the decisions we make
  • We will encourage fun on the pitch through equal opportunity and realistic expectations of the children
  • We have built the skills of our adults to provide a safe, healthy, respectful, and enjoyable environment
  • We will develop children’s confidence and character as players and as people, challenging any behaviour that conflicts with this
  • Champion rugby’s core values: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship.

As coaches we do volunteer our time because we believe in the values that Rugby has given us and hence we can’t wait to get back up to St Marks and get going again…..

And what a week one it’s going to be! We have only lined up a Rugby world cup winning, president of the RFU, legend of the game to come and kick start the season. The one and only Jason ’The Fun Bus’ Leonard is coming to promote his charity The Atlas Foundation. Expect fun and games as he wanders around from 11am to 1pm.

Pitch allocations are now online and will be posted here every week. I am sure your coaches will still send their weekly motivational mails!!

As we start the season, I do have one ask of all the parents and supporters. Please remember to keep our touchline culture the positive, encouraging, inclusive and supporting environment we all love. Please be as noisy as you can in encouraging all the players (from both sides) and let the coaches do the coaching/tactics.

A couple of parish notices if I may, as we start the season, it’s time to:

  • Pay your membership via
  • Order some new boots
  • Order a mouthguard: Opro are coming to the club on the 9th for Custom fit mouth-guards. See the website for details
  • Order some club stash from our new provider (Samurai) by visiting the clubs new on-line kit shop
  • Visit the clubhouse (from 12-1pm) to snap up the last of our old (Serious Stuff) kit. Bargains galore like socks, shorts, wet tops, shirts! When it’s gone, it’s gone!
  • Volunteer in whatever capacity you can to help your local club. Please contact me if you can help

The First XV get the season started this Saturday with a home fixture vs Hertford. Why not come up and support the club and get the kids excited about the next day when the Youth section takes over!

Success for three U16s

Paddy Hagger Finn Bradley and Dom Bradley (not related) have all played for Tunbridge Wells and Kent for a number of years with all three getting into Saracens u15’s academy last year.

Now after a gruelling selection process including training 2 days per week at Saracens training ground in St Albans throughout the school holidays and Matches against Harlequins and Bath Academies all three have been selected again for the Saracens’ U16 academy.

This is an amazing achievement! Places in the Saracen’s academy are exceptionally competitive.  Of the 3000 players at U15 across Hertfordshire Essex and Kent, only the top 100 U15 players were selected to trial for Sarries’ for just 35 places. At U16 this was reduced further-still to 25 places.

It’s a great success for the three lads – and reflects on the amazing coaches are and the quality of the children coming through the ranks at Tunbridge Wells.  Hopefully we can look forward to some home grown talent for the first team in years to come… (the boys themselves are probably hoping to play for Saracen’s and who can blame them)
